FOR the third year running, The Straits Times is giving readers a chance to win a Volkswagen car. A Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI, sponsored by Volkswagen Group Singapore, is up for grabs in The Straits Times: A Part of My Life contest.

It is worth $68,000 without certificate of entitlement, insurance and road tax. The Golf is the carmaker’s most popular model.

‘Volkswagen and The Straits Times are brands with a successful history and a reputation of trust,’ said Mr Leon Gumpert, general manager, Sales Singapore, at Volkswagen Group Singapore.

To take part in the competition, readers must first collect pictures of seven small Volkswagen keys. One key will appear every day in The Straits Times from Saturday until Aug 21.

Readers must also look out for entry forms which will appear in the paper on Aug 15, 16, 21 and 22.

They can submit their entries only on Aug 22, at a venue which will be revealed in the newspaper that day.

At the venue, magicians JC Sum and ‘Magic Babe’ Ning will attempt to perform their biggest illusion by teleporting the prize car from a secret location onto the stage, where it will then be presented to the winner.

Mr Han Fook Kwang, editor of The Straits Times, said: ‘We are very grateful for the support of our readers all these years – all 1.4 million of them who read us every day. ‘We’ve tried over the years to make The Straits Times relevant to them and, wherever necessary, to make changes to the paper to meet their changing needs. We will continue to find ways to improve our coverage both in print and online so as to grow our readership.’

Another $10,000 worth of prizes, including a 50-inch plasma TV, cameras, phones, game consoles and mini laptops, are being given away in a three-week online promotional contest which was launched on Aug 6.

The contest runs on websites across the SPH AsiaOne network – including straitstimes.com- and ends on Aug 27.
